NYFW was a whirlwind of crazy psychotic 18 hour days that shouldn’t have ended. That my friends, is the reason blogs were put off. We be sorry. However, we made it through. And most of us did. But one did not. Im sure most fashionistas were crushed when they herd the news of McQueen, as we were. It is so tragic. Lee was magical. So, in return for his amazing inspiration over the years the chic staff will be doing some blogging on him(shocker!). Long live McQueen.
God, some of our all time FAVORITE McQueen looks. Truely a classic designer. They need a McQueen museum ASAP. Could you imagine?
McQueen was my all time favorite designer. He was so dark and risk taking, he understood a lot of things that other designers didn’t. I created outfits (as above) out of his items on a daily basis. I don’t think he realized how big of an impact he had within the music industry. Almost every single women i know who works in the music industry, or is a musician has loved him. He is someone who the darker, edgier girls could run to when they needed some funk in their style that they couldn’t get from Cavalli(because he wasn’t “edgy” enough). You are able to walk into any label, and see at least one person representing McQueen. I think that says a lot. And its scary to see who will take over his empire, because whoever does will not only have the biggest shoes to fill but they will need to be ready for the worst criticism. With that being said, I feel Christian Siriano should take over. Having worked with him as an intern, he clearly has an understanding of what went through his mind, and it is visible through his designs. If the Gucci Group was smart, they would offer him the position. I cant think of anyone else who would be able to come close to McQueen, unless they aren’t discovered yet. With that being said, it really sucks that he is gone, but his legacy will live on in our hearts forever.
